Q: Is camp.er a reliable source of information?
A: Our site provides you with verified and reliable information. However, we would advise you against going camping/hiking alone only with this site in your upper backpack, because an advanced camp(.)er is worth more than 1000 camp.er sites.
Q: I'm not an active person regarding sports and outdoor activites. Do you think I can try a medium-difficult route?
A: It is best to test your fitness level on a beginner route, and then gradually increase the difficulty.
Q: How can I get to the spot I want to start my hike?
A: Taking the train is the easiest way, but train stations are usually not so close to typical hiking routes and you'll have to take the bus. A lot of people choose to travel by their own car.
Q: My friends won't come with me. Can I go hiking alone?
A: You can go alone, or you can come with us. Leave your contact details in the "Contact" section and we'll get in touch with you. We're good people and we like making new friends.
Q: Can I go on unsigned/unmarked trails?
A: Never without someone who knows the places really well. Marked trails are the safest, because on unmarked trails you can easily get lost or even worse, encounted wild animals.
Q: What are trail signs and how do I read them?
A: Trail signs follow the exact trail you've chosen. As soon as you get to a sign, you should be able to see the next one and the previous one. Trail signs can be found on trees and rocks or cliffs. In Romania, trail signs are either red, blue or yellow, in shapes of triangles, circles, lines and crosses surrounded by white borders. Other signs are definitely not trail signs.
Q: What do I do if I get lost and I can't find my way back to the trail?
A: Stay right where you are unless you know where you're going (which I'm guessing you don't). Try going back to the last trail sign you saw, and then carefully look around. If you still can't find the last trail sign, try finding signal for your telephone and call Salvamont Romania (if you're in Romania). Their number is +40salvamont, or +40725826668
Q: Where can I build a campfire?
A: Never right on the grass. It's better to pick up the grass dirt and put it away, surrounding the remaining area with big rocks. Before you leave, place the grass dirt back after you have put out the fire.
Q: Where can I throw away the trash?
A: You can leave it in the camp only if it's biodegradable leftovers. The rest, including paper, cans or bottles, you take it in the backpack and throw it into the nearest trash can.
